James - 1st Horsell
Its great to be going to the Jamboree - all of us are just getting to grips with the idea!! Anyone involved with Scouting will tell you how important this date is to everyone right around the world.
This is a once in a life time experience and I feel privileged to be given this opportunity, especially going with such a great team!
A bit about me
I left Winston Churchill School last year after taking my GCSE's. So now I have to get up early (07:30 train) to go a bit further a field in the mornings to Godalming College. I'm taking my AS levels this year in Chemistry, Biology, Maths, and Music Technology. I hope to continue all four to A Levels next year (results permitting!!).
I enjoy music, playing the clarinet and piano, and also drama, both on and off stage. I'm really interested at the technical workings of theatre and have applied my hobby as sound and lighting technician to a number of performances.
Scouting has given me many great opportunities to do adventurous activities, my latest being canoeing. I love to go walking and recently went on a tour to the Swiss Alps with my Venture Unit. Those that are not part of the Scout movement really don't know what they're missing!
My Scouting CV
Formerly a member of 8th Woking I am now a member of 1st Horsell
Beaver Scout - Joined 8th Woking as one of the first intake of our colony. Still disappointed at not becoming a Lodge Leader!
Cub Scout - Became a Seconder.
Scout - Became a Patrol Leader and achieved the Chief Scout's Award.
Venture Scout - Moved to 1st Horsell Venture Unit as, unfortunately, there wasn't one at 8th (we still keep in touch though!). I've almost finished my Venture Award and have become Unit Treasurer. I'm having a great time. Ventures is a lot like Beavers actually!
Leadership - I've started taking an active role in the leadership of one of Horsell's Cub Packs and am now undertaking the leadership training.
