Daniel (Dan aka Magic) - 7th Woking

I am so excited and grateful at being given the opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree. I know how fortunate I am and how much the trip will benefit me through meeting and learning about other people from other cultures around the world. 

I am really looking forward to the community project work we will be doing in Thailand. It will be a great chance to leave the Thai people with a lasting memory of the Jamboree.

A bit about me

I was born and have lived in Woking all my life. I am a keen kayaker and hold my BCU 3* award and Form W, which allows me to help instruct younger Scouts, something I really enjoy.

I am a student in the Sixth Form at Gordon's School, Lightwater, where I am studying for my A levels. The school is quite unique, being a memorial to General Gordon, with a strong military flavour to it's history. I am a member of the Combined Cadet Force and have completed my Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

Beaver Scout - 1992 to 1994. Became a Lodge Leader

Cub Scout - 1994 to 1996 - Became a Sixer. Obtained my Cub Scout Award, Adventure Award, Adventure Crest Award, completed the Cub Scout Challenge and attended a number of Pack holidays and camps.

Scout - 1996 to 2002 - Became Senior Patrol Leader. Obtained my Leadership Award, Explorer Award, Patrol Activity Award, Platinum 2 Outdoors Award and Chief Scout Award.
Member of the 2000 District Lightweight Competition winning team (with Mike).
Team Leader for Southern 50, 2001 (youngest team ever to complete) and Southern 50, 2002.

Venture Scout - 2002 - Venture Scout until the change to Explorer Scouting. Worked as a member of a Scouts de France service team at the 3rd World Championships of Athletics - Paralympics 2002. Enjoyed the last ever 7th Woking Venture Scout Camp at Dartmoor.
